A taxi driver who sustained injuries to the head following an assault in the early hours of Monday morning has died from his injuries.

Moses Ayanwole, who was originally from Nigeria, and who lived in Clonsilla in Dublin 15, died this afternoon having sustained injuries in an attack in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 41-year-old taxi driver was assaulted by another man at around 12.20am on Monday morning on Pearse Street in Dublin city near the junction of Erne Street.

Following the incident the lone attacker walked away in the direction of Erne Street.

One man was arrested yesterday in relation to the attack yesterday but was later released without charge.

Mr Ayanwole was brought to St James's Hospital where he was treated for head injuries as a result of the assault.
