A taxi-driver charged with raping three young women in Dublin has been remanded in custody until next Wednesday by the Dublin District Court.
The 35-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with committing the offences early yesterday morning in a south city flat.
Judge Miriam Malone ordered that nothing should be published which would identify the defendant, injured parties or the location.
Sergeant John McGing said he arrested the man in south Dublin yesterday morning took him to Terenure Garda Station where his detention was extended until 11.15pm. On the directions of the DPP, he was charged at midnight and replied "no" to each of the charges.
There was no application for bail and at the request of his solicitor Mr Michael Kelleher, Judge Malone also directed medical attention and treatment in custody if necessary. She deferred the question of legal aid pending submission of a statement of means.
