Boxing:World and European lightweight champion Katie Taylor comfortably won her quarter-final bout against Italy's Cordio Giacoma at the European Union women's Championships in Pazardjik, Bulgaria.
The Bray boxer, who is also the AIBA World female boxer of the year, defeated Giacoma 14-1 over four rounds to register her 33rd victory in a row.
She will now meet France’s Cindy Orain, an opponent she beat in last year’s EU final in Liverpool, in tomorrow's 60Kg semi-final.
Taylor’s dad and coach Peter and Pat Ryan worked her corner, and Taylor senior said he was delighted with the win.
"Katie was always in control against the Italian…and was 10-1 ahead at the end of the third. It was a comfortable win,” he said.
"But fair play to the Italian girl, she took some great shots in there and she stood up to it so she deserves a lot of credit."
