A sports teacher from Co Tipperary has gone on trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court accused of sexually assaulting four primary school girls.
Mr Phil Lowry (50), from Holycross, Thurles, Co Tipperary, is pleading not guilty to 12 counts of sexual assault on dates between September 1996 and June 1997.
The jury was told that Mr Lowry was involved in a FAS programme on which the alleged victims and other children were coached in football and hurling.
Mr Kenneth Mills SC, prosecuting, said the complaint was first made after one of the girls objected to going to a training session.
