A teenager who was arrested in connection with the shooting of Melanie McCarthy-McNamara in February has been refused bail by Tallaght District Court on a number of unrelated charges.
The 17-year-old had previously been arrested in connection with the shooting of Ms McCarthy-McNamara but was not charged. He is currently in custody serving a sentence.
The teenager is charged with failing to appear before Tallaght District Court on January 17th, 2012, and with possession of cannabis and possession of cocaine for sale or supply at a location in Tallaght on February 5th, 2011.
Det Kieran McGrath told Judge John Lindsay that the charges had previously been struck out but he had received directions from the DPP to re-charge the teenager.
He said he had charged the teenager before the court and he had replied “no comment” to the charges.
Garda McGrath said he was objecting to bail as he believed the teenager would commit further offences if granted bail.
Judge Lindsay remanded the teenager in custody.
