A 16-year-old male who attacked and injured his then girlfriend was ordered yesterday by a judge to carry out fundraising to help victims of domestic violence.
The Dublin youth pleaded guilty at the Children’s Court to assault causing harm to the girl, who is in her mid-teens. However, he may escape receiving a recorded criminal conviction and a possible custodial sentence if he follows a set of crime diversion tasks which have been ordered by the court.
Judge Clare Leonard told the teenager that as part of the plan recommended by the Probation and Welfare Service, he must continue to live at a residential care home.
