Nordic telecom operator TeliaSonera has bought 82.3 per cent of Norwegian broadband firm NextGenTel in a deal valuing the firm at about €242 million, the companies said today.
Swedish-Finnish TeliaSonera, the Nordic region's biggest telecoms operator, paid 65.50 Norwegian crowns (€8.37) in cash per NextGenTel Holding share, a premium of 45 per cent to yesterday's closing price.
It will bid the same amount for the rest of the stock, the companies said.
NextGenTel shares, which had been suspended on the Oslo bourse pending the news, surged 44 per cent to 65 crowns, almost matching the purchase price.

But they eased back slightly to 64.75 crowns by 1.22pm Irish time. TeliaSonera shares were flat at 44.80 Swedish crowns (€4.77) in Stockholm.
