On the Town: By the end of the night, we were all "hopelessly devoted" to the stars of Grease, which opened at the Dublin's Point Theatre this week.
It was Simon Casey as the silver-clad angel, singing Beauty School Drop-out, who stole the show for many. Afterwards, fans at a post-show party in the O2 Point Club couldn't wait to serenade him with You're The One That I Want.
Among those spotted in the audience were You're a Star judge Linda Martin, Miss World Rosanna Davison, Ireland rugby team captain Brian O'Driscoll, broadcaster Larry Gogan, Fair City stars including George McMahon who plays Mondo, Tatianna Oulianka who plays Lana and Sarah McDowell who plays Suzanne.
Waterford's star singer Chris Doran was there with his cousin, Michael Cummins and his manager, Noel Carty. The Eurovision singer will be in Youghal this Wednesday kicking off a tour to promote the release of his next single - a cover version of a 1980s love song.
Three of the group Final Four - Alan Foran, Lee Kearney and Martin Cosgrave - were there too, relaxing before they head off to the Mitchelstown Festival this weekend. Two young music-lovers, Ciara Madden (14) and her sister Aoife (12), looked forward to the show, especially to seeing Sandy, played by Hayley Evetts.
Others who came with collars turned up and a 1950s swing in their steps was broadcaster John Creedon with his youngest daughter Meg. Actor Mick Lally, who begins rehearsals shortly for Synge's The Well of the Saints with the Druid Theatre Co, was there with his daughter Saileog.
Afterwards, as the summer day drifted away, Grease was the word, was the word.
Grease runs at the Point until Saturday, August 14th
