A 30-year-old woman is recovering in hospital in Belfast after she was assaulted in what police described as a paramilitary style attack in front of her 12-year-old daughter.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said ten armed and masked men entered the woman’s house in the Tamery Pass area of the city at around 9.45 p.m yesterday.

The woman was beaten with iron bars and is thought to have sustained a broken arm and broken leg.

The men then ransacked several rooms and smashed windows. A car parked at the rear of the house was also badly damaged.
