A second round of tenders had to be submitted for the raising of the Rising Sun, the lobster boat which capsized with three crew on board off the Saltee islands on November 29th.

Six tenders were submitted to the Department of Marine but it has now emerged that a second round of tenders was called for in order to address all safety and health issues.

This has led to a delay in announcing the awarding of the contract, with the department expected to make a decision within the next few days.

Wexford Fianna Fáil TD Tony Dempsey said the second batch of tenders was opened yesterday morning and was being evaluated.
