Lesotho - Tensions rose again yesterday in Lesotho after the release of the findings into an investigation into the disputed election of May 23rd was delayed, to the chagrin of opposition politicians, reports Patrick Laurence, from Johannesburg.

South Africa's Deputy President, Mr Thabo Mbeki, held talks until late into Wednesday night with leaders of Lesotho's main parties to persuade them that release of the report should be delayed until the weekend meeting of the 14-member Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The investigation was conducted - with the agreement of the governing Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) and the three main opposition parties - by a team drawn from three neighbouring countries, South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe, all of which - like Lesotho - are members of SADC.
