Racing:Teofilo's most realistic first port of call this season could be the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 28.
Having been the long-time ante-post favourite for the Stan James 2000 Guineas, a late setback prevented him from tackling the opening Classic of the British Flat season.
Trainer Jim Bolger, successful with Finsceal Beo in the 1000 Guineas on Sunday, will now take the safe route with his star colt who is considered unlikely to be ready for the Vodafone Derby.
"It would be lovely to have Teofilo right in a few weeks, but I don't think that is going to happen," he said.
"I'd say we are looking at probably six weeks on the easy list and then we will assess the situation. The very best you could be looking at would be the King George. I don't think he will make the Derby.
"If there was any doubt about having him right for the King George, then there would be the Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
"I don't think he would be ready for the Irish Derby, but if I'm wrong that would be a bonus," Bolger told the Racing Post.
While Teofilo might not make the course for some considerable time, there are no plans for him to remain in training as a four-year-old.
"He won't race beyond his three-year-old days," Bolger added. "I can tell you that there is no arrangement vis-a-vis his stallion career at this stage other than one mare is booked — and that's Finsceal Beo."
