The American papers received at Queenstown by the last steamer announce that Mr. Edison has nearly completed his new machine house for testing the electric light. This, with other experiments, will cost Edison £20,000, and the New York papers point to this as proof of his faith in the practicability of the invention. The shares in the Edison Company are going up. It is stated Edison had improved the receiver of the telephone, which will enable one to hear when standing fifteen feet from it.
