The song has stormed the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, thanks to the mall-quaking energy of Gregg Alexander, the band's Michigan-born singer and songwriter, and songs such as Jehovah Made This Whole Joint For You and I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away the Ending take gentle pot-shots at America's most bizarre, from would-be nuns with coke habits to paranoid peace-niks with guns, while a whole parade of hypocrisies and injustices trudge through the title track.
