Third man charged in Belfast over rape

Two men have appeared in court in Belfast on charges relating to an attack on a woman in Newtownabbey last weekend.

Two men have appeared in court in Belfast on charges relating to an attack on a woman in Newtownabbey last weekend.

Mr Michael Boothman, 24, from Serpentine Road, north Belfast is accused of attempted murder, rape and indecently assaulting the 31-year-old woman at waste ground behind the Valley Leisure Centre in Newtownabbey, Co Downlast Saturday morning.

Mr Kevin Patrick McLaughlin, 25,from Newton Gardens, is charged with rape and indecent assault.

Mr McLaughlin was also charged with possession and intent to supply of the class A drug ecstasy.

Both men denied the charges at Belfast Magistrates' Court today.

The two were remanded in custody to appear again on Tuesday.

A third man - aged 21 -was charged with rape and assualt this evening.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday, the RUC said.
