Algiers - Thousands of Algerians chanting "No to terrorism" marched in city streets and oasis towns yesterday after their President denounced the killing of "children, women and the innocent without distinction". Muslim fundamentalists have killed 60,000 people in the past 51/2 years, according to independent estimates. Some opposition politicians say 100,000 people have died.

State-run Algerian television showed streets in the mountain town of Setif, east of Algiers, packed with thousands of people with banners proclaiming "No to traitors", "No to dismemberment of Algeria".
