Gardaí are investigating three bank robberies that occurred this afternoon in three different towns within the space of half an hour.

At around 2 p.m. two armed men entered the Ulster Bank in Belturbet, County Cavan, and robbed a small amount of cash. They left the scene in a white Opal Corsa.

No shots were fired, and there was no one injured in the robbery.

At around 2.25 p.m., two men armed with handguns robbed the TSB in Ludlow Street of Navan, County Meath.

An alarm was activated in the bank, and the men left with a small amount of money.

They men ran down a lane beside the bank that led to the main Dublin to Cavan road. It is not known whether they had transport waiting for them there.

The third incident took place in Moate, County Westmeath.

At 2.25 p.m. two men, one armed with a sawn-off shotgun, entered the AIB. They escaped with a small amount of money in a Honda Civic that had been stolen in Dublin.
