A total of 11 people have been taken to hospital following three crashes involving buses in Co Dublin this morning.

Four people were brought to hospital after a bus and a van collided in Rush. Three passengers and a Dublin Bus driver were injured in the crash at 6.30am on the town's main street, according to the company.

Dublin Bus said 10 passengers were on board the bus involved in the first crash, a 33 service travelling from Dublin to Skerries.

Following the incident, a diversion was set up through Corr's Lane in Rush. At 7.45, there was a collision between a car and a Route 33x bus on the lane. Seventy-one passengers were on this bus, and two bus passengers and the two occupants of the Golf GTi car were taken to hospital.

The main street in Rush was closed earlier but has now reopened.

Later this morning, shortly before 10am, a bus on Route 16, travelling out to Ballinteer, collided with a car on Camden Street. Three people who were in the car have been taken to hospital.

None of those taken to hospital are believed to have suffered serious injuries.

Extra 33x bus services have been put on the route to take commuters into the city centre after the collapse of a bridge on the Dublin-Belfast line near Malahide last month.

Dublin Bus and gardaí are investigating the three incidents today. In a statement, Dublin Bus said the company had a strong safety record that compared favourably with other similar operators.

Elsewhere, investigations are continuing into a collision between a bus and Luas in Dublin city centre last week.

More than 20 people were injured, with several cut from wreckage when the tram collided with the double-decker Dublin Bus vehicle and derailed last Wednesday afternoon.

A woman remains in a stable condition in Beaumont hospital, while another patient is stable in the Mater. At St James's Hospital, one person remains in care, while a second has been discharged.

Gardaí are to interview hundreds of witnesses over the collision at the O’Connell Street-Abbey Street junction.
