Three men arrested in connection with a PSNI investigation into UVF activity in north Belfast face court today on a series of charges.
A 32-year-old man faces charges of possession of explosives with intent, causing explosion, attempted intimidation and membership of UVF. A 40-year-old man faces charges of conspiracy to intimidate a witness, conspiracy to cause explosion and membership of the UVF while a 62-year-old man faces charges of conspiracy to intimidate witnesses, and membership of the UVF.
The men are expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court later today. All three are from the Belfast area.
A fourth man (28) has been released pending report of the Public Prosecution Service.
These charges relate to a pipe bomb attack on a house in Larne, Co Antrim in 2003.
The charges were brought by the PSNI Serious Crimes Branch after they took over the running of Operation Ballast last December from the Historical Enquiries Team following a Police Ombudsman investigation into crimes by the UVF in north Belfast.
Later this morning PSNI officers arrested a 33-year-old man in relation to the investigation.
