Three Dublin men have appeared before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court today charged with membership of the IRA.

Nathan Kinsella (33), of Matt Talbot Court in Dublin, is charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the IRA on September 13th last.

His co-accused Darragh Evans (23), of Grange Park Rise, Raheny, Dublin 5 and Vincent Ryan (22), of Grange Avenue Drive, Donaghmede in Dublin 13 are also charged with the same offence on the same date.

The men were all arrested as part of a Garda search and arrest operation which was carried out at locations across counties Dublin, Meath and Kildare and involved over 200 personnel.

Operation Ambience was set-up to investigate any breaches of the criminal law which may have occurred during the funeral of Real IRA member Alan Ryan in Donaghmede last Saturday.

State Solicitor Liam Mulholland asked that the accused men be remanded in custody until next Friday. There was no application for bail or legal aid.

Presiding judge Alison Lindsay, sitting with Judge Flannan Brennan and Judge William Hamill, remanded the three men in custody to appear before the non-jury court again on Friday next.
