Three people have been killed in recent days on the roads.
Mr John Gilligan (78), from Kiltoom, Co Roscommon, was killed when the car he was driving struck another on the main Athlone to Roscommon road at Kiltoom shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gardai are seeking witnesses to a second accident in which a 21-year-old driver from Naas was killed when his car crashed into a bollard on the Naas road early yesterday.
A man in his 40s died after his car collided with an articulated lorry at around 2.35 p.m. yesterday at Watergrasshill in Co Cork.
