Two men and a woman all aged in their 20s were arrested after a sawn-off shotgun, gun cartridges and a number of balaclavas were discovered in a car which was stopped at a Garda checkpoint in Co Cork last night.
The three were arrested at Garryoutragh, Mogeely, shortly after 10pm last night as part of Operation Anvil, which targets organised crime gangs across the country.
A male and female are currently in custody in Midleton Garda station, and another male is being held in Fermoy Garda station.
All three have been detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
