A staff member was approached by a man holding a gun at the shopping centre on Butterfield Avenue at about 12.45pm. No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.

The raider escaped with cash in a red Skoda Octavia, which was driven by a male accomplice. The car was later found on fire at Springfield Avenue in Templeogue.

Three people in their late 30s and early 40s were arrested in the Ballyfermot area yesterday evening. They were being held at Terenure and Rathmines Garda stations last night under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

This incident follows another cash-in-transit van robbery in Dublin last month. A sum of cash, believed to be € 40,000, was stolen in the raid at the petrol station in Walkinstown.

Gardaí later recovered most of the stolen money. Four people arrested over the incident were released without charge and a file was prepared for the DPP.
