Gardaí believe they know the identity of two men who sourced drugs taken by the model Katy French in the hours before she fell into a coma last December.
Two men and a woman were arrested at two locations in Co Meath yesterday morning. They remained in Garda custody last night.
Detectives believe a number of people have not supplied truthful information about their movements and those of Ms French relating to a two-hour period before she was taken to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, Co Meath, on the morning of Sunday, December 2nd.
Ms French (24) never regained consciousness and died at the hospital five days later.
The results of toxicology tests have been received by gardaí but they had not been released last night.
However, The Irish Timesunderstands the results are consistent with examinations on the dead woman's body which found cocaine consumption led to her death.
Sources said no other hard drugs had been identified by the toxicology reports.
However, further tests are to be carried out to determine if so-called softer recreational drugs may have contributed to Ms French's death.
Yesterday's Garda operation began at first light. A man in his thirties and a woman in her twenties were later arrested at a house in Co Meath at 9.30am.
They were taken to Garda stations at Navan and Kells.
Both were questioned under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A second man, aged 25, who also has an address in Co Meath, was arrested at 11.15am. He was taken for questioning to Kells Garda station.
All three were being questioned about the alleged supply of drugs to Ms French.
They can be held for 24 hours without charge.
They were expected to be released this morning with a file on the case being prepared for the DPP.
Sources said charges relating to the supply of drugs to Ms French would be difficult to prove because no drugs were seized after her death.
However, any person who did not act expeditiously in getting medical help for her could face endangerment charges.
Ms French fell ill at a gathering at a house in Co Meath and was taken by friends to hospital in Navan.
Gardaí believe they have vital technical information that links at least two people who together are believed to have sourced the drugs that Ms French consumed before she died.
A number of people with high profiles in the media have been interviewed by gardaí about the days and hours leading up to Ms French's collapse. None of these figures have been arrested.
