Three people were hurt in clashes with gardaí at the site of the Corrib gas pipeline in north Co Mayo today.
The incident happened at around 8am this morning where around 50 protesters continued their campaign against the locating of the Shell-led consortium's refinery at Bellanaboy.
Gardaí said the clash happened as officers attempted to clear a way through the protesters for a van bringing workers onto the construction site.
The scuffles broke out and a garda was pulled into the crowd of campaigners. Other officers went to his assistance but batons were not used, a Garda spokesman said.
Three local men were injured in the incident and taken to Castlebar General Hospital where they were one was treated for a suspected broken nose and another received stitches.
