Three people died on the roads at the weekend.
A woman in her 30s was killed in a single vehicle accident on the Waterford to Clonmel Road (N24) at Aglish, Carrigeen, Co Kilkenny at 8.15 last night. She was a back seat passenger in the car which veered off the road and collided with a concrete pier.
Another passenger, a boy, is in intensive care in Waterford Regional Hospital, where his condition is described as "very ill". Three other children and two women in the hospital are in a stable condition.
Mr Paul Dillon (25), from Kingscourt, Co Cavan, was walking near Drumturk, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, at 6 a.m on Saturday when he was struck by a van.
Mr Tadgh O'Flynn (43), from Fortwilliam, Ballingarry, Co Limerick, died when his car struck a wall at Kilmihill, Ballingarry at 9.30 p.m. last Friday.
Two men in their early 20s were in a serious condition in Cork University Hospital yesterday after their car hit a wall at Inchigaggin Bridge, on the Model Farm Road, at around 6.50 a.m. on Saturday. A man died on Saturday morning in a house fire in Ballyfermot, Dublin. He was Mr Eugene McEvoy (41), who was found in the sitting-room of his house on Blackditch Road. The fire is thought to have started in the kitchen.
