At 2am yesterday, a 21-year-old man died when his car struck a stone wall on Main Street in Kildysart, Co Clare.

He has been named as Stephen Corry from Labasheeda in Co Clare. Gardaí have asked any witnesses to yesterday's crash in Kildysart to contact them at Kilrush Garda station on 065-9080550. Mr Corry had survived a crash on August 14th, 2004, when he was the driver of a van which struck a wandering bullock as he drove with his girlfriend to Ennis.

His 19-year-old girlfriend was fatally injured. Brigid O'Brien from Coolmeen, Kilmurray McMahon, Co Clare, was the front-seat passenger in the van when the accident occurred at Barntick, Clarecastle, about four miles from Ennis.

At that time, Mr Corry sustained only minor injuries.

A 16-year-old died when the motorbike he was riding collided with a car at Coolroe, Ballycullane, close to New Ross, Co Wexford, at 9.30pm on Sunday. He has been named as Mark Molloy of Bealistown, Ballycullane. The motorcycle's pillion passenger was taken to Wexford General Hospital with unspecified injuries.

In Donegal, John Barr (34) of Ashbrook, Strabane, Co Tyrone, was killed after his motorbike left the road at Cashelnavean near Ballybofey at 5pm on Sunday.

No other vehicle was involved. Mr Barr later died at Letterkenny General Hospital.

Earlier, at 11.45am, a two-car collision in Drumlong, Newport, Co Mayo, killed Brigid Mitchell (86) of Shore Road, Saula, Achill Island. She was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Four other passengers were taken to Castlebar General Hospital with minor injuries.
