Three Polish men, who have been charged following seizures of cannabis worth €1.5 million at grow houses in Dublin and Co Meath, have been remanded in custody.
Gardaí searched a number premises yesterday morning and five people were arrested as part of an inquiry into drug trafficking in west Dublin and Co Meath.
Marcin Olszewski (31) of the Nurseries, Mulhuddart, Dublin, Slawomir Lewandoski (31) and Robert Gogolewski, aged 29, who both have addresses at Arran Court in Blanchardstown, Dublin, appeared in court this morning.
All three have been charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, possessing drugs for sale or supply and cultivation of cannabis at their addresses.
They had been arrested at their homes at about 8.30am yesterday.
Judge Anthony Halpin heard at Blanchardstown District Court that the three men were charged last night. They made no reply to the charges after caution and gardai would be objecting to bail.
Gda Alan Barry, who arrested Mr Olszewski, cited the seriousness of the charges and said the man could be flight risk and had “no ties to this jurisdiction.
Judge Halpin also heard that there would be the same objection to bail in relation to Mr Lewandoski.
However, the three men did not make seek bail today.
They were remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday and Wednesday next week when they are expected to make bail applications.
The three men, who were wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, were granted legal aid. They did not address the court and have not indicated how they intend to plead to the charges.
Two other men, who were also arrested, remained in Garda custody tonight.
