Three people have been hurt in a rocket attack on the headquarters of the US-led administration in central Baghdad.
Loud blasts echoed across the city as darkness fell and loudspeakers at the HQ ordered personnel to take cover.
The compound has come under mortar and rocket fire several times this month, prompting intensified US military operations against guerrilla targets in Baghdad.
Residents of a central Baghdad neighbourhood near the compound said at least two rockets had landed nearby. A large crater had been blown in the middle of one road.
A spokesman for the US 1st Armored Division which patrols Baghdad said at least two rockets had been fired. One crashed through the roof of an empty apartment building near the coalition compound and another landed near a bus station.
"There are no reports of US soldiers being injured, or of civilian casualties" the spokesman said.
But he said two Iraqi police were wounded in a rocket-propelled grenade attack near a petrol station.
There are as yet unconfirmed reports of a third injury resulting form the attack, thoiugh detail have not been confirmed.
