Three soldiers have been shot dead on a street in southern France.
It was the second such incident over the past week in which French soldiers were shot in public places.
In today's attack, a police official said the three uniformed soldiers had been standing at a bank machine in the southern town of Montauban when a helmeted attacker arrived on a motorbike and opened fire before fleeing.
Defence minister Gerard Longuet expressed his condolences to the soldiers, their families and their regiment.
On Sunday, another soldier was shot and killed near a gym in the southern city of Toulouse by an unidentified attacker.
The motives for the shootings are unclear.
