"Equal importance is given to sating both aural and oral desires!" writes Danette O'Connell of the latest series of musical feasts and tasting menus organised for her restaurant, Danette's Feast, in Urglin Glebe, just outside Carlow.

The evenings feature an eight-course tasting menu of Ms O'Connell's acclaimed cooking, and Kevin Parsons will present complementary wines on Friday 14th of November, while on November 28th there will be an evening of madrigal singing, with Helen Roycroft, Ruth Herlihy, Peter Sweeney and David Milne. Alan Smale, leader of the National Symphony Orchestra, is the performer on Friday December 19th, while the group Aontas will be stirring things up on New Year's Eve, Wednesday December 31st.

Tickets for the evenings cost £30, and £35 for New Year's Eve, which includes a glass of champagne. Full details from Danette on (0503) 40817.
