German industrial conglomerate ThyssenKrupp earned record quarterly profits before tax in the three months to end-June, the company said today.

Earnings before tax rose to €806 million in the fiscal third quarter from €577 million in the year-earlier period.

Germany's largest steelmaker took much of the surprise out of the results by raising its full fiscal year pretax target to around €2.5 billion last month, citing a strong third quarter in which pretax before one-offs totalled more than €750 million.
