Tiger Woods told officials at the PGA Western Open on Tuesday that he plans to skip the one event he had scheduled between the second and third legs of golf's Grand Slam.

Although Woods cited an undisclosed illness, American sports channel ESPN reported on Tuesday that Woods has the flu.

A two-time winner at the Cog Hill Golf et Country Club, Woods is the biggest draw in the sport.

But he has opted to remain in Florida and rest before heading overseas for the British Open later this month.
