Cork 1-13 Tipperay 1-19: Tipperary's 85-year wait for a Munster hurling championship win over Cork on Leeside ended following a fully merited victory at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
A crowd of 42,823 witnessed another cracking instalment between these great rivals on a testing, humid afternoon.
Tipp pulled away in the closing 10 minutes to set up a provincial showdown against either Limerick or Clare. And they had to do it the hard way as Cork settled quicker, boosted by an opportunist Ben O'Connor goal after seven minutes.
Indeed, the Rebels enjoyed a 1-8 to 0-4 lead after 22 minutes, but Seán Óg Ó hAilpín's point proved their last of the half.
Tipp rocked back into the contest with a brilliant Eoin Kelly goal within a couple of minutes and by the break Cork's lead was reduced to the minimum, 1-8 to 1-7.
Goalkeeper Brendan Cummins then saved a Paudie O'Sullivan penalty after 42 minutes, but Cork continued to shade the issue with a Tom Kenny point sending them 1-11 to 1-9 clear.
Tipp's introduction of substitute Micheál Webster paid an immediate dividend as he levelled at 1-12 apiece entering the last 15 minutes.
But it was all Tipp on the run-in as they scored five points without reply to set-up a long overdue success in Cork.
