Tipperary 2-19 Galway 1-15
Tipperary have won through to the National Hurling League final after a compelling display against a poor Galway side at Ennis this afternoon.
Nicky English’s team dominated from the throw-in and despite sporadic surges in Galway’s confidence, the were never troubled by the reigning league champions.
Tipperary attacked with precision, picking off their points following free flowing attacks down the flanks.Galway on the other hand lacked imagination in the full forward line.
Tipperary effectively killed off the game when, in the second half, Declan Ryan, first to pick up on scrappy play in the Galway defence, scooped the sliotar into his hand and riffled it to the back of Liam Donohue’s net.
Galway suffered a tremendous dent to their confidence after 16 minutes of play when Tipperary corner forward Lar Corbett skillfully turned his marker to drill the sliotar high into the Galway net.
The second half introduction of Athenry hero Eugene Cloonan spurred the Tribesmen somewhat but time and again their defence struggled to cope with the incessant Tipperary pressure. However, a late Galway goal restored some respectability to the scoreline.
Tipperary will play the winners of tomorrow's other semi-final between Clare and Kilkenny.
