All schools should be made compulsory tobacco-free zones, a Fine Gael TD, Ms Theresa Ahearn, has said. She has called for a "massive information campaign" on the dangers of smoking to be undertaken in schools, with youth clubs and sports organisations also targeted. "No resources or effects must be spared to stop the `lung cancer epidemic' as warned by (consultant oncologist) Dr Desmond Carney," she said.
