The number of those killed or missing and presumed dead in the September 11th attacks was 3,044, according to the latest official figures. The total includes 19 men that were identified as the hijackers. Although the vast majority of those killed were U.S. citizens or people living in the United States, there were victims from 36 other countries.
World Trade Centre: 2,811 dead. The number includes 2,654 dead in the Twin Towers, 92 dead on American Airlines Flight 11 and 65 dead on United Airlines Flight 175. There were five hijackers on each plane.
Pentagon: 125 dead in the building, 64 dead on hijacked American Airlines Flight 77, including five hijackers.
Pennsylvania: 44 dead on hijacked United Airlines Flight 93, including four hijackers.
