THE director of the Luas light rail project for Dublin has said it is now "too late" to consider reinstating the original route of the Tallaght tram through Inchicore and Kilmainham.
"It can't be done", Mr Donal Mangan said yesterday. He was referring to a campaign by residents who have threatened to run their own general election candidate unless the revised route via Davitt Road is dropped.
Mr Mangan was addressing a seminar on light rail at the RDS which also heard that the Manchester and Sheffield tramway systems had overcome initial difficulties and were running ahead of projections.
