THE COMMISSION for Aviation Regulation has advised customers who had holidays booked with Toolin Travel not to contact the now defunct travel agent.

Toolin Travel, which was one of the biggest travel agents in the State with eight branches located in Dublin and Kildare, ceased trading “with immediate effect” on Friday.

The company’s website has been replaced with a brief statement from the commission advising that Toolin Travel is no longer operating.

“Customers who have a current booking should contact the relevant airline, ferry company or travel provider to establish the status of their booking and make alternative arrangements if necessary.

“Any customers who purchased overseas travel from the company during the period it held a licence and who wish to claim refunds for money that had not been passed on to the suppliers may do so from the Commission for Aviation Regulation,” says the statement.

A claim form is available to be downloaded from the commission’s website, at www.aviationreg.ie.

The company has said anyone with a booking for travel in the immediate future will not be affected.

It also says anyone currently abroad on a Toolin Travel booking will not be stranded.

The commission says it will have more information today.
