SOME OF the top restaurants in the midwest will take part in a new culinary initiative unveiled in Limerick yesterday.
The inaugural Dine in Limerick the Shannon Region Restaurant Week takes place from Friday of next week, June 11th, until June 20th.
The event will see some of the most popular restaurants in the region offering promotional meal rates with three-course menus priced at €25 and €35. Diners will also be presented with a special “Dine in Limerick” menu featuring locally produced top quality food with great dining options to choose from, according to organisers.
Padraic Frawley, chairman of the Dine in Limerick initiative, said that the event would raise the food profile of the region and local producers.
“We want to actively promote Limerick and the midwest as a region with quality food, wine and many great dining options to choose from.
“We also hope to attract new visitors, especially foodies throughout the weekend to promote food business through difficult times.
“We’re confident that the week will be a success with a pricing structure which represents fantastic value, particularly at the weekend,” he said.
John Crowe, projects and promotions manager of Shannon Development’s Limerick development division, said the event would help promote Limerick and the Shannon region as a culinary destinationand it would boost Limerick’s reputation as a city-break destination.
The event coincides with the Special Olympics and takes place ahead of a number of Limerick events, including the JP McManus Pro Am.
