Topaz Energy has announced a €50 million investment programme unveil the Topaz brand in Ireland.

The investment by Topaz, which owns Shell and Statoil, will see the removal of the iconic Shell and Statoil service station brands from the Irish marketplace, ending a 106-year Shell presence on Irish forecourts.

The investment will create 400 jobs, the company announced.

Established three years ago following its takeover of Shell and Statoil in 2005 and 2006 respectively Topaz Energy is now the largest fuels business in the country.
