Saint Etienne's Welsh coach John Toshack is set to sign on the dotted line for a third spell in charge of Spanish first division tailenders Real Sociedad after just 10 weeks in France, media reports said today.
According to Marca magazine, Real will shell out some $1.3 million to net the services of former Real Madrid coach Toshack, who could be in place by tomorrow in time to take training with the San Sebastian-based outfit.
Toshack has maintained a house in San Sebastian and Real president Luis Urange, who has been straining every sinew in order to get him back on board, is a close friend. But he is on record as saying he will quit his own post if the club's situation does not improve.
The Spaniards have been without a coach for almost a month since the dismissal of Periko Alonso, who had only replaced Javier Clemente in late October.
According to Marca Toshack's first transfer target, assuming he does return to Real, would be former Betis striker Miroslav Karhan.
Karhan is currently playing in Turkey for Besiktas. AFP
