Food group Total Produce said today it has acquired the exotic fruit importer Utopia from the administrator in Britain for an undisclosed sum.
The fruit, vegetable and flower distributor, which was spun out from Fyffes in 2006, said the newly acquired business will be named Total Exotics.
Based in Spalding, Linconshire, Utopia is an importer and supplier of exotic produce such as mangos, pineapples, limes, figs, cherries and papayas to supermarkets in Britain.
It had sales in excess of £25 million.
