Tourism delegations from Clare and the west will promote "the real Ireland" at the Milwaukee Irish Fest, which opens today in the US state of Wisconsin.
The four-day event was set up by Irish emigrants 25 years ago and is now the world's largest Irish culture festival, attracting over 100,000 visitors each year. It features clan reunions, hurling, Celtic music and dancing.
Fourteen representatives led by Clare County Council and Fáilte Ireland West will promote Shannon airport as a gateway to Ireland.
They will also highlight local attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher, Lough Derg and Bunratty Castle through an audiovisual display. Last year the stand prompted about 3,000 people to book holidays to the region.
