The potential to develop "political tourism" in west Belfast was one of the areas highlighted in a tourism strategy document introduced yesterday by the Sinn Fein president, Mr Gerry Adams.
The study was commissioned by a number of local organisations and was partly funded by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. It concluded that some £15 million in capital investment was needed to develop the tourism potential in both Catholic and Protestant areas. Core products identified were political tourism, cultural tourism and an arts and cultural centre.
