Trading in Enron shares halted on NYSE

Enron Corp shares were halted at the market opening on the New York Stock Exchange today.

Enron spokesman Mr Vance Meyer said the company has delayed the filing of some requested financial documents to a US bankruptcy court in New York to this afternoon from this morning.

The NYSE was unable to say when the shares will resume trading.

On Friday, Enron told the bankruptcy court that UBS Warburg had made the highest bid for its wholesale trading operations.

The company did not disclose the amount on offer and the court agreed that documents would be presented today to be reviewed by interested creditors on a confidential basis.

The court is expected to announce the bid details on Thursday.
