SIPTU has referred the dispute between Dublin's 146 traffic wardens and the Department of Justice to the Labour Relations Commission, following the failure of talks yesterday.
SIPTU official Mr Des Hughes said that, if the department tried to transfer the wardens forcibly to Dublin Corporation the union would regard this as a lockout, and a breach of Partnership 2000. The wardens are resisting the transfer because the corporation has indicated that most of them would be made redundant or redeployed.
