A passenger train and a truck transporting gas canisters collided in northern France this evening but both drivers and passengers escaped serious injury.
Local officials said: "No victim has been counted at present, around 100 passengers have been taken into care as a precaution"
An official at the town hall in the town of Saint-Laurent-Blangy said that the truck had broken down on a level crossing and the train ran straight into it. The truck driver got out of his vehicle before the train hit it, the official added.
An eyewitness said he heard several explosions and several vehicles crashed into each other as they tried to drive away from the scene of the collision.
