Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni will remain in the Mater hospital overnight, where he has undergone a series of tests for suspected food poisoning.
The 71-year-old Italian has been unwell since he arrived in Ireland over the weekend, with the cause of his illness thought to be shellfish he ate before he left Italy.
Republic of Ireland team doctor, Dr Alan Byrne, brought Trapattoni to the Mater at 3am as a precautionary measure after vomited repeatedly.
An FAI statement this evening outlined that Trapattoni has undergone a number of tests and all results were normal. He will be kept in overnight and his condition will be reviewed by his consultant in the morning. His condition remains stable and not serious.
Assistant manager Marco Tardelli took charge of the squad today for training, but he remained hopeful Trapattoni would make it to the game. "He is strong, so maybe tomorrow he will be in the dugout," said the Italian.
After naming a starting XI this morning, the management team were forced to make a change after Stoke City winger Liam Lawrence was ruled out with a groin strain. Birmingham City and former St Patrickâs Athletic winger Keith Fahey will start in his place.
Richard Dunne and Kevin Doyle remain in doubt as they have respective knee and calf injuries, with Darren OâDea and Cillian Sheridan ready to be called in if necessary.
Robbie Keane will captain the side in what will be his 100th appearance for the Republic in the first international at the new 50,000 stadium.
