A Traveller has been charged in connection with the killing of another Traveller in Ballymote, Co Sligo, last week.
At a special sitting of Manorhamilton District Court in Co Leitrim yesterday, Mr Martin McDonagh (27), Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in Ballymote on Monday, May 10th.
Det Sgt Alo Farragher said when charged, Mr McDonagh replied he had nothing to say.
Supt John Leahy, opposing bail, said he believed the accused might abscond to England, and there was also the possibility of witnesses being interfered with. Judge Oliver McGuinness remanded Mr McDonagh in custody to Castlerea Prison to appear in Sligo District Court on Thursday.
